Sweet wave; sweet photo. Quads must be in season...Evan's got a nice post re Joe Blair's 8'9" SUP quad. http://www.standuppaddlesurf.net/2008/04/10/joe-blair-8-9-stand-up-paddle-board-video/Getting closer to the holy grail.
srnff-Lots of hoopla over the small SUP quad boards. Right now I really am having fun on my 11' foot single fin. I like a SUP board that I can surf like a longboard. The small SUP boards are mostly one dimensional but do have their place when the surf is right. It's best to have a few boards in the quiver.
I'll see if I can get a few more SUP pics of Lopez on the Mex trip and post if I do. OUT.
I think you're right on target Jim. The quads are a dedicated "performance" SUP for smaller waves. Your 11'er and my 10'4" Angulo definitely surf like longboards. Overall they are more versatile as well 'cause you can use 'em as paddleboards and surfboards. Change the fins around a little and they get more performance oriented or noserider-like, but still fall in the longboard category.
srfnff-Thanks for the comments. I have people every day telling me they read my blog but don't leave comments. I do however get comments from prone surfers that don't seem to like SUP boarders. I'll post their comments if they are worth posting, but most seem to be coming from folks with a 5th grade education. The thing that really cracks me up is that they are sitting around reading SUP blogs. Classic!
Jim, All I can say is keep doing what you're doing. I read your blog almost every day and enjoy your perspective, what you're up to with the SUPs and checkin' in on SB SUP scene.
Oliver- I missed the point on Sat and I was at the kids swim meet all day today in Simi Valley. It was smoking ass hot in the sun! I'll be back at the beach tomorrow.
Linter-Glad you enjoy the blog. It's fun. It should be a big summer for the SUP boards. People are calling me everyday asking about paddleboarding. It's getting big. OUT.
