I think the star of Wardogs demo yesterday was the StarBoard 9' footer. This snappy little number floats like a 12' footer. I paddled it around and you would never know it was only 9' feet. Boards are getting shorter and shorter. I have a Naish 9'6" coming early summer and I can't wait to get my hands on it now!
Also, Im not sure how WarDog got his nickname. All the WarDogs I have known in the past have tattoos of pitbulls and rebel flags on their arms. Santa Barbara WarDog is one of the most easygoing guys you will ever meet so what's the story Warren?

He started the WARDOG moniker...along with some of the college surf posse from Humboldt at the time...namely, Duster...Juiceman, and Sproutman...we all had one word surfing nicknames...most *REAL* surfers do...;-)
Bert also definitely influenced our surfing...and sk8in'...

Thanks Warren....opps!.... I mean WARDOG. Thats a cool story. I surfed Puerto back in 1992 and I remember it was a super heavy wave. I mean it really kicked my ass!! Two busted boards the first day. Some local guy comes by in a van and collects all the busted boards and fixes them. I can't remember his name. Thanks for the comment.
Hey Wardog- I was wondering about that too- nice to know the truth.
I'm not sure but I think I've got a real surfer nickname, most of the guys I surf with call me "dick"- as in "Hey dick get out of the way" stuff like that. It's kind of stuck.
John Ashley
John-I really shouldn't let this one out of the bag but my nickname is "Huckleberry". Not very surfy is it. Out of kindness to my fellow SUP surfer I will just call you "Richard".
