SUP HIGH AND DRY
My friend Blane Chambers from Paddle Surf Hawaii called me the other day all fired up on their newest way to stay in shape when the surf goes flat or the wind comes up over on the islands. Stand Up Paddle skating. The idea isn't new but the way Blane and his crew are doing it is. Totally leaning on the stick just like SUP. I of course couldn't let Blane have all the fun so I got a carve board and made a stick out of an old windsurfing mast and hit the hills yesterday. Im hooked!!!! As you can see by the photos above my stick is to short so I had Jim Terrell from Quick Blade paddles make me a custom stick that will be 6" over my head with lots of flex. It will basically be a Qb paddle without the blade. Ill put roller blade wheels on the bottom. Ill post the results tomorrow when it arrives. OUT.

PETER TROW....MORE CENTRAL COAST
Peter Trow paddling out all alone. There is a good reason he is all alone. Most people including myself don't have the sack to drive out to the middle of nowhere, paddle out that far in shark infested butt cold water to catch the wave. Peter truly enjoys every second of it. OUT.

SHARING THE STOKE INVITATIONAL AT RINCON
BlueLine SUP surf team had the honor today of being the first ever SUP team to compete in a surf contest at Rincon. Yup, what a great event that the Ground Swell Society organized this weekend. We entered under the name BlueLine/Pit Crew. Ted Munoz from the Pit Crew was all about our SUP team being in the event. Thanks Ted! Please go to the Sharing the Stoke website to find out more about this great event. OUT.

Rick Thomas
Now that SUP has hit the big time we are constantly being reminded of who is the biggest, longest, oldest, fastest in the business......blah blah blah! Hell, I'm guilty of it myself! This brings me to the subject of the underground SUP legend of Rick Thomas....the Godfather of SUP on the US mainland. Yup, Rick introduced SUP to the US mainland in the year 2000 and the rest is history. Rick is a very humble human being. Rick speaks softly and carries a big paddle! He is very proud of his Hawaiian culture. I had the honor of spending a couple of days with him on my latest trip down to Mexico. This guy is the real deal. We talked lots of story but I wont say anymore because his whole story will be told in full in the near future. Thanks Rick for turning us on to the Hawaiian sport of SUP on the mainland.......respect.
